English as an Additional Language (EAL) Programme

Our after-school EAL programme is strictly aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). We provide a structured roadmap that transforms English from a barrier into a competitive advantage, ensuring students possess the proficiency needed for Cambridge International assessments and top-tier university admissions.
Mastering Academic English for IGCSE, A-Level, and Beyond
For Secondary and Pre-University students, English is more than a communication tool—it is the medium of complex thought. To succeed in rigorous examinations like the Cambridge IGCSE and A-Levels, students must do more than speak fluently; they must analyse, argue, and persuade in academic English.
The Framework: From Competency to Fluency
We utilise the globally recognised Cambridge English system to benchmark progress. Our curriculum is designed to move students systematically towards the "Independent" and "Proficient" user levels required for higher education.

The IGCSE Benchmark: Targeting B2 (Independent User)
For Lower & Upper Secondary (Ages 13–16)Success in the Cambridge IGCSEs—whether in History, Science, or Geography—requires the ability to understand detailed texts and write clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects.
B2 Competency (Upper Intermediate).
We transition students from "social fluency" to Cognitive Academic Language Proficiency (CALP). Students learn to structure essays, understand subject-specific terminology, and comprehend abstract concepts.
Students are equipped to handle the linguistic demands of the IGCSE English as a Second Language or First Language English papers, as well as the heavy reading loads of their core subjects.
The A-Level Standard: Targeting C1 (Proficient User)
For Senior High School / A-Level (Ages 16–19)The Cambridge International AS & A Level curriculum demands high-level critical thinking. Students must be able to express ideas fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions.
C1 Competency (Advanced).
Advanced rhetoric, nuanced argumentation, and implicit meaning. We train students to parse complex source materials and construct sophisticated arguments required for A-Level General Paper or Knowledge & Inquiry.
Students develop the cross-cultural fluency and critical literacy essential for success in our interconnected world and rigorous university environments.

The Ultimate Target: IELTS 7.5+
For our senior students, the EAL journey culminates in university readiness. Top-100 global institutions—including major universities in the UK, Australia, and Singapore (NUS/NTU)—typically require an IELTS score of 6.5 to 7.5 for admission.
Our EAL program integrates specific IELTS preparation strategies for A-Level students:
Mastering Task 1 (Data Description) and Task 2 (Discursive Essay) with academic tone and cohesion.
Speed-reading techniques for dense academic texts.
Developing the confidence to discuss abstract topics with native speakers.
