Cambridge English Qualifications Pathway
(Years 1–6)

For international students aiming to enter Singapore’s government primary schools, the path begins with Cambridge English Qualifications (CEQ).
Passing the A2 Key for Schools (KET) or B1 Preliminary for Schools (PET) is mandatory. Students must achieve the required CES score in these exams before they are eligible to register for the AEIS or S-AEIS Mathematics test.
At Stalford Academy, we do not view this merely as a regulatory hurdle. We see it as an opportunity to build a robust linguistic foundation that serves your child long after the exam is over.
The Stalford Difference: Proficiency + Exam Strategy
We understand that learning English and preparing for an exam are two distinct but complementary processes. To ensure maximum readiness, our English curriculum for Years 1 to 6 addresses both:

Holistic Language Acquisition
In our daily English classes, delivered by qualified native-speaking educators, the focus is on genuine fluency. We move beyond rote memorisation to develop the core skills required for academic success:
Teaching students to understand context, inference, and tone—not just translating words.
Building the ability to structure arguments and narratives logically, a skill essential for Singapore’s rigorous writing components.
Encouraging students to speak with confidence and clarity.
Targeted Exam Preparation
While general proficiency is the goal, exam technique is the key to unlocking high scores. As an appointed CEQ preparation centre, we overlay our general curriculum with specific CEQ training modules:
Students drilled on the specific question types found in A2 Key and B1 Preliminary, including paper-based and digital exams.
Timed practice runs to ensure students can complete papers under pressure without panic.
Teaching students exactly what examiners are looking for in the Speaking and Writing components to maximise marks.

A Progressive Roadmap: Year 1 to 6
We integrate these qualifications directly into our learning milestones to ensure students peak at the right time.
A2 Key for Schools (KET)
Ideal For: Lower Primary (Years 1–3)
We build strong foundations in phonics, basic grammar structures, and vocabulary expansion.
By Year 3, students are equipped with the "survival English" skills needed to communicate in simple situations, aligning perfectly with the A2 Key requirements for AEIS Primary 2/3 entry.
B1 Preliminary for Schools (PET)
Ideal For: Upper Primary (Years 4–6)
The complexity increases to match Singapore’s Upper Primary standards. We focus on advanced reading comprehension, nuanced vocabulary, and extended composition writing.
Students in Years 4–6 work towards the B1 Preliminary level, mastering the intermediate skills required for AEIS Primary 4/5 entry and everyday use.
The "Train and Test" Advantage
We offer a seamless experience that removes logistical stress for parents and students.
We are officially appointed by the World Exam Board (SG066) as a CEQ preparation centre.
Your child can sit for their CEQ YLE and Main Suite exams right here on our campus. Taking the test in a familiar environment reduces anxiety and helps students perform at their best.
We have direct access to authoritative Cambridge English teaching and learning resources, ensuring our preparatory materials are always up-to-date.
