Stalford International Secondary &
Cambridge IGCSE (Years 7–10)

The transition to Secondary School marks a definitive shift towards intellectual maturity. At Stalford Academy, we view Years 7 through 10 as an intensive, high-growth phase. Our curriculum is engineered to bridge the high standards of the Singapore pedagogy with the global flexibility of Cambridge International IGCSE curriculum, ensuring students exit with internationally recognised Cambridge IGCSE qualifications.

Lower Secondary (Years 7-8):
Stalford International Secondary School Certificate

Before students tackle the IGCSEs, they must build the "analytical stamina" required for higher-order thinking. We achieve this by uniquely integrating Singapore’s renowned pedagogy into our Lower Secondary framework.

Our two-year track is designed to solidify foundations before accelerating progress. In Year 7, we focus on the high-level heuristic problem-solving of the Singapore Primary 6 curriculum to ensure mastery of the "Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract" logic. This establishes a robust platform for Year 8, where students synthesise the core pillars of the Singapore Lower Secondary Mathematics syllabus in a single year. This targeted acceleration provides the advanced algebraic foundation necessary for IGCSE Mathematics and Additional Mathematics.

Beyond mere textbook theory, we immerse students in the rigorous Singapore Lower Secondary Science curriculum through active inquiry. Utilising our NEA-registered science laboratories, students transition from observation to deep experimentation, explicitly bridging the gap between abstract concepts and real-world application. This hands-on intensity ensures they master the critical theoretical pillars of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology required for IGCSE Pure Sciences.

Moving past traditional rote learning, we cultivate "Critical Humanities" through Cambridge Global Perspectives. This interdisciplinary subject transforms students from passive receivers of information into active analysts, teaching them how to deconstruct complex global issues. By rigorously developing essential skills in research, collaboration, and argumentation, we equip students with the intellectual maturity required for advanced IGCSE humanities and the independent study demanded by universities.

Upper Secondary (Years 9-10):
Cambridge IGCSE

In Upper Secondary, the focus shifts to examination excellence and subject specialisation. As a certified Cambridge International School, we prepare students for the Cambridge IGCSE—the world’s most popular international qualification for 14 to 16-year-olds.

Learning moves from simple knowledge retention to active application. Technology is seamlessly integrated into daily lessons, with every student utilising Chromebooks for collaborative projects and Interactive Flat Panels for dynamic instruction. Beyond the digital screen, students tackle complex problems in our specialised facilities, applying scientific principles in NEA-registered wet labs or prototyping solutions in the ArtScience Makers Studio.

We approach the IGCSEs with a strategy defined by our core philosophy: Proven Teachers, Proven Methods, and Proven Results. Our educators, including qualified native English speakers, provide targeted preparation that goes beyond the textbook. Seniors (IGCSE) are supported with age-appropriate, rigorous homework schedules designed to meet examination demands. This disciplined approach has established a consistent track record of high pass rates and strong grades across our cohorts.

We recognise that every student has a unique trajectory. We offer a diverse range of subjects allowing students to craft a combination that aligns with their university aspirations. Whether pursuing the "Hard Sciences" (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) , engaging in the Humanities, or developing creative expression in our Visual and Performing Arts Studios, students are guided to select subjects where they can truly excel.

Holistic Development:
The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award

"World Ready" beyond the Classroom

While academic results open doors, character determines success. To balance the rigorous intellectual demands of the IGCSE, we offer a structured pathway for students to develop resilience and leadership as an Independent Duke of Edinburgh’s (DofE) International Award Centre.

Unlike standard extracurricular clubs, the DofE Award empowers students (aged 14+) to design their own holistic development programme, ensuring they are not just exam-ready, but life-ready:

This internationally recognised award serves as a powerful differentiator, complementing the IGCSE to make our graduates well-rounded candidates for top-tier universities

Pathways to Success

Defining Your Destination

Our Secondary programme is designed with the destination in view. We understand that the IGCSE is a stepping stone, not the finish line. Our academic counsellors work closely with Year 9 and 10 students to identify their strengths, guiding them towards their ideal post-secondary pathways.

Leveraging our dual-track expertise, students are positioned to progress to:

Global Universities

via the Cambridge International AS & A Level route, leading to top 100-ranked institutions in the UK, Australia, and beyond.

Singapore Universities

via our preparation for Singapore examinations (A-Level), facilitating admission to Singapore’s autonomous universities such as NUS, NTU, SMU, and SUTD.
